New Caledonia: Noumea

After arriving back in Noumea we saw a few more of the local sites. We visited the maritime and World War II museums, which were both very interesting. I particularly enjoyed the World War II museum.

We also visited a couple more viewpoints around Noumea.

The next day we caught a water taxi to the Ile aux Canards (Duck Island), where we paid a lot of money for a beach chair. However, it was a lovely spot to relax, and the snorkeling was fantastic. Lots of fishes, and I even saw a ray.

In the afternoon we visited the Parc Zoologique Et Forestier Michel Corbasson (Zoo and Botanical Gardens), which had some good examples of New Caledonian bird life, as well as some peacocks and deer wandering around. Finally we visited the acquarium, which had air conditioning, which was lovely, and some great exhibits.
