Big Cats in Botswana

Saturday August 26th, 2023

This morning we left Victoria Falls and headed across the border to Botswana.

After some lunch and checking in, we had a game cruise along the Chobe River which was amazing. We saw so many animals but the highlight was the elephants. We saw a herd crossing the river and coming out of the water, and elephants playing in the sand and calves.

It was passports out again this morning as we had a visit across the river to Namibia to visit a village on Impalila Island.

It was really interesting to see the simple way of life, and learn about the trees in the area and the dietary and medicinal purposes they were used for. There was even an enormous 2000 year old Baobab in the centre of the village.

After lunch we walked into the centre of Kasane to see what was there. It’s a small town but we got some souvenirs and some exercise before relaxing by the pool in the afternoon.

It was an early start this morning for a game drive, but a great way to start the day! Minutes after entering the park we spotted a leopard, and over the drive we saw various antelopes, giraffes and a pride of lions who came so close to our vehicle. It was spectacular!

The rest of the day it was time for more relaxing before a dinner cruise on the river. We were the only group on the boat, which was lovely!
